Hi [y'all](https://youtu.be/Nxazmzy0vAo?is=Vc8B6lKtedGOzw%5FP&ref=joeyplunkett.com),

- No points for being ahead of the curve on this one, but [Widow's Bay](https://youtu.be/Nmc2RYm6PUE?si=1SEltnvF41yRRVVs&ref=joeyplunkett.com) really is fantastic, and it's fun to see a show Macy and I enjoyed so much get its flowers. It just won 14 Emmys, the most any comedy series has ever won in a single year, and it did it in its first season. The story, the acting, the set design, and the balance of spooky with comedy and depth of emotion make it a really unique ride. Add in a dash of the New England coast that I don't get enough of and it's something I'm sure I'll go back to for a rewatch. Season 2 is already confirmed. If you want more in this realm, Hamish Linklater is great in Widow's Bay, and he's arguably even better in [Midnight Mass](LINK), another exceptional show set on a New England island. If I had a nickel for every time Hamish Linklater starred in a horror show set on a New England island, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
- Speaking of the New England coastline, I've posted some [photos](https://www.joeyplunkett.com/photos/) from our recent swing through.
- I'm not averse to a good cover, but for a cover of a beloved song to stick, there has to be some hook or change to it that makes you re-engage with the source material. The bad ones just make you wish you were listening to the original instead. I really like "This Is the Day" by The The. It's a song I've engaged with a bunch over the years. When I found [THIS IS THE DAY](https://youtu.be/0KfppJrLD%5Fw?si=QcKsXb3ZXdIFW2Ch&ref=joeyplunkett.com) by Moto Bandit, I was halfway through before I realized what I was hearing was a cover. It adds a drivingness and an intensity that isn't there in the original. Really nice, take a listen.
- Talking about music, I've compiled all of the weekly recs I've handed out so far into [one playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/70ImUJMXWZz4RoRRxLnEM6?si=85fc8f288ed74442&ref=joeyplunkett.com) for this years tunes. Question: should I reset it annually, or would you rather have one playlist that just keeps growing?
- I enjoyed this web project, [Ordinary Abundance](https://ordinaryabundance.com/?ref=joeyplunkett.com), as a reminder of how impossible our ordinary daily life would have looked to almost everyone who came before us. It's not an excuse to stop hoping for a better and more equitable future, or to stop being upset about what's wrong in today's world. But there's a practice in noticing how lucky we are that helps put other frustrations in perspective. Occasionally. Ohh, and I love a well designed one-off web project.
